Finally catching up on putting posts together now I'm back up north and have a bit of spare time every now and again.
The Sunday before we left Plymouth was Elaine's mums birthday, so we headed out to Buckfast Abbey (North Devon-ish way?) for the afternoon after I got back from my morning walk to the woods.
With it being a Sunday I automatically opted for the roast dinner off the menu, not realising just how high they would stack it (that Yorkshire Pudding was disappointing!). The Abbey itself was interesting inside, though I have no religious attachments or beliefs so Churches and their concept are a bit of a curiosity. The windows are always nice though...
After visiting the Abbey, we set off down the road to the Butterfly Farm and Otter Sanctuary for the afternoon. I don't think I'd ever been there when I was younger but I properly enjoyed it. Inside the Butterfly Farm the temperature soared to keep the climate nice and humid for the insects and Terrapins lurking in the pond. It was a struggle trying to shoot any mid-flight, but there were enough opportunities to creep up on unsuspecting Butterfly's while perched on a feeder, providing you moved slowly.
