Before the wedding on Saturday, Ari and I had a few errands to run around town to grab some last minute bits (namely trousers that wont fit my massive legs). We met up with my Dad quickly over lunch, and then briefly headed over to Minerva on Ebrington Street to catch up with my friend Dan.
I mentioned in the previous post about Dan hosting a party with help from Carhartt to celebrate 5 years of his clothing store Minerva. To give a bit of backstory, Dan worked with me back in the original days of size? Plymouth at the end of 2009 when I joined up as a Christmas temp. A couple of years after that Dan and our manager Benny decided to open up their own shop in Exeter, filling a gap they'd manage to find in that part of the south-west.
Through the various ups and downs of keeping an independent store running, Dan ended up shifting through a couple of different units in Exeter before finally opening up his latest iteration on Ebrington Street in Plymouth almost a year ago. The brand roster has changed a bit over the years, and he's currently stocking products from Carhartt WIP, Dickies, Soulland, Stüssy, Saucony, WoodWood and many more. If you find yourself in the area, make sure to pass through and support independent trade.
